Project Highlight: “Plant Powered” Spread Designed a bold, easy-to-follow recipe layout with vibrant photography and clear typographic hierarchy, supporting The Health Store’s plant-based message in a fresh, accessible way.
As the lead designer for The Health Store magazine, I was responsible for the full design and layout of this vibrant, recipe-driven publication, which celebrates plant-based living and healthy eating. My work helped visually communicate wellness-focused content through engaging and accessible design. Key responsibilities included:
• Layout Design: Created clean, cohesive editorial spreads featuring vibrant photography and easy-to-follow recipes, maintaining consistency across all sections including “Plant Powered,” “Deliciously Vegan,” “A Culinary Journey,” and “Something to Share.”
• Typography & Hierarchy: Developed clear typographic hierarchies to guide the reader through ingredient lists, method steps, and nutritional information.
• Photo Direction & Retouching: Worked closely with food photographers and stylists to enhance visual appeal. Edited imagery to ensure consistency in tone, lighting, and color for print.
• Brand Alignment: Ensured all pages aligned with The Health Store’s wellness-centric values and visual identity while keeping the content visually fresh and modern.
• Print-Ready Artwork: Prepared and packaged files for print, ensuring color accuracy, bleed, and resolution met professional print standards.
• Collaborative Workflow: Liaised with editors, copywriters, and nutritionists to ensure the design accurately reflected and enhanced the written content.
• Creative Ideation: Contributed to the development of new themed sections and layout styles, helping the magazine evolve issue-to-issue.
This project reflects my strength in editorial design, my attention to detail, and my passion for delivering design that is both beautiful and highly functional.
